The Triumph of a Mobile Coupon

mobile coupon
Recently there has been quite a bit of talk about using text messages as mobile discount coupons. The main problem with sales campaigns based on the place of purchase is how to send the coupons to a certain group of clients and how to make sure later that each coupon is used only once.

Mobile coupon solution proves once more that the course of the campaign can be very successfully controlled by an added unique code – after showing the message, the code used in it loses its validity. As always the whole process is 100 per cent paper-free and according to my estimates it takes less than 15 minutes from the “production” of the coupons to the first purchase.

Handheld spaces information

If you know enough about Bluetooth technology, you would easily guess how his technology has always been underestimated so far. This is mainly due to the different approach of this technology, much more used as way of pushing objects/files (read: ringtones, pictures, etc) rather that technolgy in a multi-user context.

But multi-user contexts, al least in my opinion, are so cool
:) but to make them more clear and understandable to everybody, it is really necessary to go beyong Bluetooth and jump into physical computing and visible information spaces.

Have a look at this video clip – this shows a marvellous job done at the University of Toronto: a hand-held multiuser projected Information Space. The video is rather clear and there is no need to use words to understand the powerfull of this solution and the innovative approach of mobile information visualization.

Well, as you see, the device used by these people is not yet that hand-held :) but I am really looking forward to see something similar done with a mobile phone. Users would be really free to exchange information simply using their hands and approach to a more natural intraction. There is also the paper available online.

Yahoo!- Mobile Internet Advertising?

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

by Martin Koppel

In the beginning of this week Yahoo! announced that they will offer graphical ads on T-Mobile’s Internet service, Web’n’walk.
Yahoo! has partnered with T-Mobile to offer exclusive graphical advertising on T-Mobile’s open Internet service Web’n’walk in the UK. They intend to launch the first mobile advertisements during the first half of 2008.

Phil Chapman, director, marketing, T-Mobile, said, “With conventional mobile marketing tools limiting the levels of interaction, banner advertising through the Internet on your mobile creates many opportunities for potential advertisers to adopt innovative marketing campaigns. We regard Yahoo! as a leader in display advertising, and with its deep understanding of the mobile space and the potential that mobile advertising can offer clients, we’re glad they are on board as our partners.”

Why is this announcement good? Well mobile Internet advertising seems to have a great potential in the future, since “Mobile Advertising in Europe” report by JupiterResearch revealed these facts:
* 64 per cent of marketers have planned to use banner advertising on mobile portals
* 68 per cent of marketers have planned to use banner ads on off-portal mobile Internet pages during the next 12 months.
* 58 per cent of marketers consider the mobile Internet to be the most service enabling future growth of mobile advertising

Great news for British marketers is that Yahoo! has also signed a similar deal with Vodafone, so soon Yahoo! can access to UK’s top two mobile operators.
